Defining Reading and Writing

For me, writing has a different definition depending on the subject that a person is writing about. Academic writing looks very different than journal writing and requires a different kind of diction. But what I think connects all writing is the novel or original work that an author must put in to call it their own.

Reading on the other hand is more uniform regardless of what you are reading, despite the difficulty or level at which one reads, after a third grade education people read to learn. And in this process of learning through writing, everyone understands what they read through Harris’ concept of turning the language into their own.
